Celebration of Vietnam People’s Army



On 15th December 2009, Defense Attaché Office of Vietnam Embassy in the Philippines organized a Celebration Party at Heritage Hotel, Manila, Philippines on the occasion of 65th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 20th anniversary of All-People’s National Defense Day (December 22).

Present at the Celebration were Ambassador Vu Xuan Truong, Senior Colonel Dao Van Quang, Defense Attaché; Major Bui Xuan Anh, Deputy Defense Attaché; officials and staff of the Embassy, and representatives of Vietnamese community in the Philippines. Present at the Celebration on the Philippine side and foreign Embassies were Four star General Victor S. Ibrado, General Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines; Deputy Minister of Defense, Antonio Santos Jr; Commander of Army, Navy, Air Force together with high ranking officers of the Philippines Army. Participants in the Celebration were also Intelligence Agency General Director; representatives of  Department of Foreign Affairs and other  Philippines Government Agencies. Ambassadors of several countries and many Defense Attachés of different countries in the Philippines also attended the Celebration.

Ambassador Vu Xuan Truong, Senior Colonel Dao Van Quang and General Victor S. Ibrado chaired the Celebration. After the flag saluting ceremony, Ambassador Vu Xuan Truong reviewed the past magnanimous activities of the Vietnamese people and the people’s Army in their struggle for independence and freedom of the country. Ambassador Truong also spoke of the goals, the roles and activities of the Vietnam People's Army. These are contained in the Vietnam Defense White Paper Book recently published. The Ambassador wishes that the cooperation between Vietnam and the Philippines in general and Vietnam People's Army and the Philippine Army in particular will be increasingly strengthened and developed. In the reply remarks, General Victor Ibrado said that the victories of the people and the Army of Vietnam in their national struggle for independence are highly appreciated. Philippine Army learned a lot from the experiences in such struggle of the Vietnam People’s Army. The General also hopes that the relations of the two countries in general and the two Armies in particular will be increasingly consolidated and developed. 

The Celebration took place in a friendly and solemn atmosphere, contributing to understanding and  to the strengthening of the relationship of the two peoples and armies./.
